Comments
from Donna's friends and neighbors
I
found this message that Donna sent me eleven months ago when I posted
to the list-serve
my chagrin about a herd of elk in last year's snowy winter munching on
our bare trees.
I smile now when I think about Donna out walking in the cold evening,
hearing the thunder of hooves on Tune Drive, and then seeing the majestic
animals rushing by.
Just thought you all might like to "hear" her words -- we are
thinking of you, Donna,
and we will remember your kindness, grace, and beauty always.

"Hi Linda,
So sorry about your plants and trees but wasn't it just the most beautiful
sight to see a herd of elk running wild in our neighborhood! I was
out walking when I heard a loud roar which I couldn't identify.
I looked at the road and it was just getting dark and thought it was
a tractor or some type of loud vehicle. When those elk appeared running
up Tune Drive I couldn't believe my eyes. Then I saw them go your
way and heard you all talking over the hill. Then they came back toward
me and once they saw me they just froze in a circle. I thought Lago
(our yellow dog) was chasing them. So I kept calling and calling him.
Then I looked around toward my house and Lago was coming to me from
our house. He had wanted nothing to do with those elk. I started laughing
because he is such a wuss but I was glad he was safe. Sorry again
about your plants and thanks for the tips on Irish Spring. But alas,
our plants don't do as well as yours so I guess that is why they went
your way.

Thank
you, Linda, for sharing this. As I read Donna's words, I could see her
so very clearly.
She was and is a beautiful person.

Donna
located and purchased the new culvert installed in 2008 where the bump
signs are.
All who use Tune Drive have benefitted from her generosity.
She was a very kind and generous neighbor.

I
am so saddened by the news of Donna Olens death.
She was a wonderful neighbor who served on the board as treasurer when
I was president.
She was always a calming influence on me when we struggled with past issues.
I personally will miss her.

Donna
was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I've ever met.
I took the above photo of her at the summer SNA BBQ in August of 2007.
Donna was so happy that warm summer day to have so many people come
and relax with her and Bob and visit in their backyard. It was a great
turnout of neighbors.
She was a joy to be around and I am saddened that she is no longer with
us.

Being
relatively new to the neighborhood, I did not have the opportunity to
get to know Donna.
However, my well wishes go out to her friends and family.
It sounds like Donna was a good soul that will be missed by all.
